after recording via dig in, no sound is played from mpc

i sampled a bass from reason into my mpc via dig out of my delta 66. after exiting record mode, my mpc no longer played internal samples, only midi info.

went back into record mode and switched the input to analog...now, all my samples play back as static which lasts for as long as the actual sample lasts.

anyone had this happen before? it's no problem, i'll just sample analog, but it kinda confused/bummed me out.

oh and i saved the spdif recording, and it's incredibly glitchy...ugly ugly.

what is the sample rate of your digi output? if it is anything else than 44.1 khz 16 bit you're putting the MPC in trouble.

All your samples as in the ones you just recorded or all the other ones that were not recorded digitally too?

i've had this before on my PC. i think it has something to do with the header file, or whatever it's called, becoming corrupted. in this case i guess it's due to a bug, but who knows. i think MPC3000 would be the chap to ask!

Nym- just a possible work around:

Have you considered just bouncing down whatever region/ sound/ track you want from Reason to your computer as a .wav, then importing it into the MPC via USB? I don't know if you're running it through some outboard gear, or what have you, but i do virtually all my sampling from Reason like this, with great results, as far as I can tell. You won't even have to trim the sample in the MPC, as long as you set the tempo in Reason and highlight the correct number of bars.

alpha - i have stopped using flash cards on my mpc...that's what i used to do. thanks though, good thinking.

trouble in handling the signal: definitely yes.

funny that it caused the mpc to stop functioning

i reset my spdif output and have yet to try sampling, but i'm sure it'll solve the problem.

Wait, so does that mean you can't drop files onto the HD from your comp via USB? I don't have the HD kit, but that doesn't sound right. (I'm not sure why i really need 80+ gigs of storage on the thing; i have a coupla flash cards that should work fine. Maybe I'm underestimating how much sampling I'll be doing.)

What are the advantaqes of the HD, other than storage space and convenience?

alpha - i def can load things onto the hard drive via usb. it's great, just like flash cards minus the cards

however, in a session i avoid transferring files from my computer. i find it more condusive to my work to just flash stuff back and forth through audio cables.
