Forgive me if this has been covered already, but I didn't see any threads on this. Well, one of the pins in my CF drive broke off, and VST wont have any replacement drives for a month! I purchased a hard drive from VST (probably not the wisest choice) and was wondering if I could transfer the saved data on my CF card to the new hard drive (via computer and usb). Once I install the hard drive, do I need to update the O.S. first? If so, is it possible to do it without a working CF drive? Thanks for your help!

i also went thru the same ptoblem /
yes u can upload 2 your harddrive
no u cant upgrade ur o.s. till u get a new cf reader
trust me just look for the board
if u can find the board just install it ur self
and if u find a place other than vst reply and let a brother know cause my cf drive is still broken

to my knowledge, it hasn't been done but you can try to save the os bin file on the hard drive and try to update the OS from the hard drive the same way you would if it was on a CF card.

you're here in the states, have you tried calling akai directly for the replacement drive? VST gets the part from akai. try calling them on monday. if you can't get anywhere with them, hit me back and i'll see what i can do.

i've already tryed to upgrade the o.s. from the hard drive and it doesnt work
(got my hopes up for nothing)
you get an error message about the cf drive the only way is to upgrade the o.s. seems to be thru the cf. vst is backorder first they said 2-4 weeks then 4-8 weeks im still goin thru email correspondence
sparQ do you think it will be possible to get it from another source?

I contacted vst about the replacement drive, but they told me exactly what bklynsbabyboy said, so they put me on a waiting list. Sparq, if you can find a replacement, I will hail you as King.
