is anyone using the m-audio firewire410 sound card?

I just got a computer and I'm looking into get a soundcard, a way to connect my 1000 to the p.c. and use my ms-2000 as a control for vsts.
does anyone have experience with the m-audio firewire410.If not what are you using and why?

i think it is a pretty decent interface.
it got 4 inputs, but you can only use 2 at the same time...so if you need more, check the "1814"...

Theres minimal software problems, but they do occour. overall they are solid products. and if you dont need all the in's, i'd suggest this product. (i still record track by track) you cant hoptplug these products though, so if by chance you were looking to do that, you CANT - there is something wrong with the hardware, if you hotplug it can damage either the firewire port on you rPC or the device. but, once you get it setup for the first time, while your PC is off, bootup your pc with it off and turn it on freely.

I have the Audiophile firewire,and you have to be careful to load the drivers in right using XP.don't mean to scare you, it want mess up anything,jus may delay your time in useing the interface until you get the drivers loaded properly.

what do you mean load the drivers in right?^^

all i did was install the most recent driver like told to, then i plugged it in while my pc was off, booted it up like told in instructions and its been working fine since then

however i do get weird propbems with the software, like somechannels dont show theres an input/output and the source button on the interface freezes up...? but like i said, this is minimal, and the product is still great

I have the 410...it is amazing, if you want more ins check the 1814 like shuk said but the 410 does me fine...more than fine for home recording. Sounds real nice for the loot too...

In about a day or 2 i'm gonna have everything hooked up to it, best bet is buying yourself a small 6 channel mixer and from there you are unstoppable.

hey greedra ...sorry i just got back to the lab..o.k. so you seperate your mpc tracks with it's assignable outs then go the mixer then to the 410 from the stereo outs or do you do each track one at a time?

i got the 410 and i like it a lot. the only other thing ive had is the m audio mobile pre and this sounds quite a bit better.

i've also got the 410 - although it's the external module which i use with my powebook. just recently got a spdif cable so that it's a lot simpler to hook up to the mpc.
my only complaint is that it's not really plug-and-play, as they tell you to shut down your computer before plugging it in or else you risk frying the interface!

^^ yeah but this is not a big deal if your stationary. if you got a mobile setup an interface wouldn't be good like this anywyas.

you plug it in, turn it in the on position and bootup. the first time you finish installing, restart, then from there on it, you can turn it on freely as much as you want. just dont unplug and re-plug it in while your pc/interface is on.
