Hello all,

I'm new to this forum, but I'm a regular over at Livepa.org.

I got my MPC1000 last night! Wow, what a phat sounding unit!!!

I'm so stoked at the possibilities...

My 1st question for y'all is: Has anybody figured out how to use the new "Input Thru" function. I mean I understand the basics, but how in the heck do you sample on the fly and play it back during a performance? I searched the new manual for this and it's fairly vague. Can it even be done?

Harmony Central eludes to this:
"With the introduction of V2.0 software, these Q-Link sliders, when combined with the new Audio Input Thru function, enables input signals to be manipulated on the fly—enabling DJs, for example, to input a sound while live on stage, sample it, and assign it to the instrument's pads for playback."

As far as I know that one was pure marketing bs... anyone care to correct me?

but you can put f/x and filter sweeps on the input thru for sure.
and the q-links are great for realtime jamming... i just dont know how to record/assign a sample while the sequence is ongoing.

It seems to me that the sampling in real-time you're refering to doesn't work anymore on 2.10. With OS 1.7 I was able to go into the record mode during playback and sample in realtime, can't seem to do it in OS 2.10. You can however go into record mode, start your sequence and then sample something along with your sequence.

hmm i vaguely remember that too in 1.7..

But do you think you were ever able to actually sample, stop sampling, assign the new sample to a pad and start playing it; all without stopping the sequence?
I didn't think that was ever possible.

Yo i thought that the new input thru was under the mixer function. Once your in the mixer it's like the F5 then at the top you must select input thru on. I usually use this function though you can not record in real time I just use the record function like you peeps when I know what melody I wanna play with reason.
