Fried input?

there's a constant noise that registers heavily on my left channel input now. i've just been using the mpc at home, nothing unusual and now suddenly it seems like my left channel input is completely fu&*d. the noise sounds like digital garbage and registers about halfway on the input meter when tryin to sample......anyone else have this problem or an idea as to what i've run into and how i could fix it get it fixed?damn

mpc3000 is the one to ask on this one, as he repairs mpc i think, but i believe it could be something to do with the circuits that make the inputs balanced. i think they're called servos, though that may be wrong, anyone care to correct/belittle me?
