what kind of files does the mpc recognise?

hi mpc newbie here - just sliced up a loop in logic, exported it to the desktop and then dragged it onto the mpc memory card. it sees in the browser but wont load it up and says wrong file.

what kind of file does it need to be?

welcome to the boards. first i would like to say, you have to search this site b4 asking a question regarding the mpc or help. more than likely, your question has been brought up before, next for your type of question, the answer can be found in the manual.

but i'll give it to you for now.

the answer is the samples has to be 16bit, 44.1 it will not read any other file format. so make sure when you export from logic, the loops are in that format.

I think you meant to say 16 bit wav, 44.1.

Logic (I assume you're using this on a Mac) will output .aif files. You can convert these to .wav rather easily using an audio editor

No you didn't. Just look at your post above. You said 16bit, 44.1. You never specified a wav file. Aiff,sound designer 2, and other audio file types can also be 16bit, 44.1 but the MPC won't recognize them. Most likely the reason his files aren't being recognized is that they're in .aif format, not that they're not 16bit, 44.1khz.

ps there was no mention of what file is supported in the manual. at least not in the one that i got. and logic does export in aif so will have to get an audio edior to make them all wav again.

you can convert your aiff. files to wav. format easily with itunes.

ok, you're right, since i'm dealing with the mpc, i'm assuming .wav is a given. sorry about that. but anyway, it states in the manual what file format the mpc can take.
