i searched the forums but i cant seem to get this...i usually chop up my samples and not time stretch, but i have a perfect 2 bar loop....i want to stretch it so makes a 4 bar loop in a 4 bar 98bpm sequence.....can anyone help me with this?...obviously math is not my forte

program the loop in a 2 bar sequence, copy that sequence.
when in song mode mode just play that seq for 2 repititions.

or with that song you can convert the song to wav and you'll have
doubled your loop to 4 bars.

Timestretch is NOT for what you are trying to.

By kontrol Mon Feb 13, 2006 5:52 pm
nah, im pretty sure i can timestretch...because yea the sample is only 2 bars....but those 2 bars are almost the length of 4 bars in my sequence....i just need to make it a bit slower to match up with the 98 bpm. Basically what im saying is the loop is almost twice as slow...as my sequence bpm, making it loop almost at the end of 4 bars....it just loops a little before... I just need to figure out the math to find out how much i need to slow it down....and i'd only have to slow it down about 10bpm at the most....but i'd rather not do trial and error because then its not exact.

And if it´s not exact, you´ll hear if it´s too long or too short and you just try again adjusting it in the direction your ears tell you. After 3 or 4 tries you ought to snap it right on grid.

Damn it, it´s all about trying, sometimes it´s the mistakes and strange unforeseen results that makes a loop or phrase really great. Been sitting for 8 years timetretching in my S2000, no bpm based calculations there, just adjusting percentage plus or minus in relation to the original sample.

Doing that is PART of being a producer.

Trial and error, creativity and experimentation.

Find your own results with experiments and maybe later you can use
some of the failed results in a different song and maybe they will fit just perfect. You never know. But until then, check my sig link below "USEFUL LINKS" and look for DEEP SOUND time stretch calculator website.

That might help you out.

How can 2 bars be almost 4?

By kontrol Mon Feb 13, 2006 6:40 pm
cause the sample itself is 2 bars long....the sequence is 4 bars but at a faster bpm. So the 2 bar sample almost plays for the duration of the 4 bar sequence.

i also cant see a link under ur sig or any link at all

he's triggering a sample which i can only assume he is using as a loop. the sample is a sample of two bars off a record, the sample when played plays for four bars in the sequence.

to put it simply at 98bpm four bars lasts for 9.79seconds

his sample lasts for just under 9.79 seconds, and he would like to stretch it to fit the four bars in his sequence!

you can do rather complicated maths or you can do it by ear!

thankyou....you understand what im trying to do....i guess ill just do it by ear then since i suck shit at math

You didn't say the bpm is faster or whatever, lol.

Mouse over USEFUL LINKS and click it. It's a link.

does anyone have any tips on getting the tempo of a loop? is there any fancy calculations like... 1 bar at 90 bpm = # of samples?

copy the loop to another seq and hit tap tempo, then adjust the tempo so it's perfect. remember that temp number and then delete the tempofinding seq. good to go.
