How to move full beats & sequences onto a computer ???????

Hey everyone , this forum has been very helpful to me over the last couple months since i got my mp1000, but im still confused about getting a beat or a sequence into my laptop. Do u need to run a chord from the back of the mp into the laptop and record it into an audio program??? I have heaps of saved projects that i wanna convert to mp3 so i can post them up and put them to cd as well. Any help would be really really good.

first do you have a soundcard on your laptop? if you don't ,you need to get one put in.

you record your "main out"..then save as a sample to your memory card(it'll be in .wav form)connect thru usb then drag and drop in yor computer..then convert from .wav to mp3 on your computer..

how you convert it? and what program u use?

i use cool edit pro..but like someone else said you can just get something for free from download.com

just search for wav to mp3 converter

"CDex" is a freeware convertor working well for me

plenty of options for the mp3 encoding

maybe its a little tricky to use for some people though...

I still cant record a song or sequence ?? i have a friend who just hooks the mpc to a mixer and the mixer to the pc`s soundcard and does it that way...i just thought there would be an inexpensive way to do it

Is it possible 2 convert a PGM file to a MP3 or WAV file? If its possible, i need 2 now wich program 2 use with please.

It's not possible to convert programs into WAVs. You need to follow the above method.

- Hook up your MPC into your computer, either using the Stereo or Assignable outputs, or both, depending on what sound card (interface) you are using. I have a Digidesign 002, so I can use all 6 simultaneously, or 2-channels digital via SPDIF

- Use an application to capture the audio from your sound card (interface), such as Cubase, Nuendo, Audacity, Wavelab, CoolEdit, ProTools, etc.

- Assign input in software

- Press Record in software

- Press Play on MPC

It make take a few tries to get the level right. Make sure you're not clipping (overloading) the input of your computer, or the output of your MPC. That will usually be indicated by the levels going into the red in the software.

if you don't have software to track to (ie cubase, nuendo, pro tools, etc...) and you have the 128mb upgrade, you can resample your seq back into the mpc then transfer it as a was file to your computer then you can convert to mp3..

this is how you would do it. (no cables needed)

when resampling from the 1000, you don't have to connect any cables. just go into the record page and change the input to :main out and press record (F6) then play your seq. when its done, your seq is now a wav file. then transfer it to the computer and then you can convert the wav to mp3. all of this is of course assuming you have the 128mb upgrade.

usb transfer is ok as a last resort, it's better to record via live into a soundcard to software. I have a

Friend that uses a laptop with his mpc, he don't have a soundcard (like m-box etc)but uses the side record in microphone jack with a 1/8 cord to record his beat into Cool Edit Pro. try that it should work for you.

PS .then you can convert with any program ,if usb is the only way, then like Sparq's said you can try the method above.
