Amp Envelope quirk?

If I turn the Decay up high to cut off a sample, I can hear what sounds like a delay in the background, like a slapback, almost like the sample is coming back for a nanosecond after the decay is set to end.

Anyone have this problem?

Yeah, it has been reported. Annoying bug. After the original decay it seems to play other samples in memory at a low volume.
It's #1 on my bug-fix-wish-list.

whoa, weird. i haven't heard this happen yet but it would bug the hell out of me. i'm always using heavily decayed samples for glitch stuff.

That sucks. Hopefully there will be a fix for it, and soon. I have the most updated OS, but I guess it's not updated enough!

Some of my samples really need that sharp decay, when I was trying to set it, I was like....wtf...I couldn't figure out why I kept hearing sounds in the background. I guess I'll just work around it for now, but its still not cool.

Yeah i've noticed this. Was wondering if it was a reported bug.

@Derker: One workaround would be to re-sample the sound with long decay and trim the end of the new sample. But that's too much work if you have a lot of samples.

@M02: When i wrote this big was reported - i meant on this forum, not to Akai. At least not by me.

I guess that is a possible as a workaround, I'm just used to Guru's quick and efficient sample trimming and enveloping. What's cool too about Guru is that you can actually view the decay on the waveform itself, so its easier and quicker to set a better decay.

Now that I think about it, couldn't I just go into Trim mode, and set the end point to be earlier, instead of having to resample it completely?

If you trim the original sample and keep the high decay setting you'll still hear that other sample at the end.
Re-sampling gives you the option of trimming that other sample and then keep decay at 5 (that way the bug won't appear).

But since i got a traumatic experience from mailing Akai last year i'll pass on that.
Still i'm confident they'll fix this bug with an update. When.... i don't know.

Seriously though, i'd love the ability to record track mutes. It's possible on the 2500 with OS 1.1 so it could easily be added to the 1K.
That's the only thing i want from Akai - recordable track mutes.
Plus a roll of aluminum foil for my pads.

Haha, I havn't had my pads die on me, but I've only had my MPC for 5-6 days, so I'll cross my fingers anyway.

Recording track mutes would definately be cool, I'm surprised it isnt a feature, but I do all my arranging in pro tools anyway.

Other then the occasional lagging of the TRIM MODE, this has to be the most annoying bug in OS 2.10.
