Hard Drive and Jumper Settings?

Hey guys-

I just ripped out a pretty nice Fujitsu 60GB Hard drive from a portable video device, looks like it will fit the HD kit once I get it this week.

This is the model, I'm hoping it will work, though I dont see any reason why not unless the HD itself it broken-

Are there any jumper settings I need to be aware of? The HD currently has no jumpers on it, and I want to make sure that's the way it needs to be before I put it in.

I burned up a hard drive in my desktop once due to the wrong jumper settings, so like I said, I just want to be sure.

you don't need the jumpers. when they sell laptop drives, they usually dont have any jumpers installed, such as in your case. jumpers are used to set it as a slave drive or a master to a slave, depending on what you're using it for. being that the mpc 1k and 2.5k can only hold one hard drive, it would be considered the single master drive (no jumpers required).

Awesome, I think this one will work out pretty well. I dont think hard drive speed really matters that much since its just used to store stuff, and it gets loaded into the RAM anyway. Does buffer/cache size matter?

on an mpc, i'm not sure if cache size really matters. i'm using a really old 6gb ibm travelstar and it works just fine. longer samples and loops might take about a second to audition and short samples audition quicker. i doubt you'll notice much of a difference (if any at all). the mpc's procesor is much slower than the average computer, so that may be what determines loading and auditioning speed. comparing load and audition speeds between my hard drive and my CF card, I dont notice a difference in speed at all.
