i got the momentus 100 and love that $hit even though its more than i'll ever need. now i don't have to rely on the computer for anything, its all done right in that little box. production, editing, storage, the works...
Exactly!!!! That's what I like, I just ditched computer based recording as well, went back to good 'ol DAW (Korg D1200mkII). I just prefer hardware based units over computer, software counterparts.
Actually guys, I tested 3 other drives w/ the MPC1000, a 40GB Samsung SpinPoint (5400 RPM), and a Hitachi TravelStar (7200RPM), and my current Seagate Momentus 7200.1 (7200RPM). The Momentus wins hands down as far as Autoload time, and sequence load times.....I know, I know, we're talking a matter of a second or two, but still.......you can see the performance difference between the other drives....
Think about it, if your MPC is at the heart of your studio, like alot of us, wouldn't you want the best, most reliable storage solution you could find?
