well, different from the others I've seen on here, at least. should prolly have some representation from folks who are making beats on the MPC1000 that are NOT hiphop. :)

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 4523306416 <-- eight minute version

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 1695688176 <-- FORTY minute version! (full show)

it's actually kind of tough at times to see the MPC, but it's in the middle of the table... sorry, I obviously wasn't the guy taking the videos. ;)

what's happening in the video: I'm a live-pa techno act, the beats are all coming off either the MPC1000 or the Korg ER-1 drum machine. Synths are either the Roland SH-101 sequenced by the MPC, a Waldorf Pulse sequenced by the MPC, or the Nord Micro Modular clocked to MIDI clock. All vocal snippets are from the MPC, and none of the beats are audio loops, they're all sequences of single drum hits, about 95% of which I sampled myself from drum machines or shit around the house. The MPC never leaves "pattern" mode - I don't use song mode, I just use the track mute page to build up and tear down the songs.

Anyone else on here using the MPC to make beats that aren't hiphop? :)

They still happen, and they rule again. Now that raves have gone back underground, 90% of the bullshit is gone and it's back to the way things used to be before it all went mainstream and fell over. Here's a pic from a party we threw a couple of weeks ago:

naw, i haven't gotten herb there since i was in school like 13 years ago. sketchy place to get anything, but the close proximity to sum of the best fish in town at The Only, and pawn shops makes it an interesting spot to visit now and then. I didn't know that Blunt Bros burned down, that's bad news... hopefully they open again.

saw this video a time ago, thank you for sharing.

i like this kind of sound very much... also like the fact that it is live performed - reminds me of the great underworld shows.

on the days i´m not in reggae mode i try to accomplish something similar to what you do only with different gear (mpc2500, korg m1, some old guitar fx, reason). have not done any shows yet, but i´m working on incorporating the mpc into my dj sets.
