Q-Link Broke

Ive searched far and wide on here and couldnt find anything on this.

Ive had my mpc for about 2 1/2 months now and about 2 days ago when i turned it on, the top q-link slider was not functining at all (After light wasnt even on). I restarted, and got the same thing. I rebooted the OS (2.10) and still got the same thing. I tried using it to trim a sample and when i click the after key and hold it down to trim, the start point goes all the way to the end. The weird thing is if i move it up and down alot i get some response, not alot but it seems like its almost still there. I dont know what is wrong with this.

yow. take your mpc apart and take a look at it. however, if it's new, take it back and switch it out.

i've never heard that happen before.

do they even sell Q-link replacements? I googled it and got nothin

call vst, they probably do. if you can try and tell me a little more about your problem (don't be afraid to open your mpc or to just get it replaced from the business who sold it to you) i can see if i can help you.

I had this problem with both of my q links nad I opened the mpc up and clean the board and I seen that the soldering was loose and I was able to solder the piece back and my q link slider 2 was working but I couldnt get the Q link 1 to work so I emailed VST and they do have them. VST has them for about 14 dollars.

If it feels loose, you prob have to do what jimbo said... but if it doesn't really seem to be loose or wiggling, try using contact cleaner... spray it down into the slider and move it around to spread the cleaner around. I would do it with the MPC powered off just to be safe...

DISCLAIMER: I have never tried this, nor am i sure if the q links operate like an audio fader (i.e. are they metal electrical contacts or is it some kind of digital data entry in slider form?). Anyway, just an idea.

before u open it ..... try running the pad/qlink tester to see if it is outputting full range.....
hold down mode and shift key....
while holding down mode and shift,
press pad bank keys (D, then C, then B, then A)
that will atleast confirm if its the slider physically F***ed or if the software glitched somehow.
my q link sliders both wouldn't work monday when I first booted up....
couldn't fiqure out why.
turned mpc off and on then they were workin....but ran that test so I knew it wasn't the slider cus it was outputtin to the test

yo thanks for the tips, im gonna run that test once i get home from school and see what happens. I opened it last night and checked it out, looked like everything was connected, so i might even try the cleaning idea. I just wanna get this done with and go back to work on it. I HATE the lower q-link slider because my finger always bumps it and set it off.

The weird thing about this all is that if i push the 'broken' slider to the left side, it will work, but when i let go of it, it will go back to the highest setting (as if the fader was all the way to the top)
