just lost another beat to the "new folder" bug

i'm a lazy jackass, i wasn't following the advice given to me by a fellow forum reader and didn't use the 1 and 2 folder saving method...and i ended up losing one of my best 8 bar beats last night due to the new folder bug. my mpc froze upon the creation of a new folder after i had deleted the previous.

needless to say, i lost everything.

PLEASE watch out for this bug. it's the only one i've run into on the new os and it WILL bite you in the ass if you're not careful.

i'm sorry but i forgot whose idea this was originally...

but a solution is to, when you save your song folder, make subfolders for earlier versions. ie if the song is called "Clergy" you'd name your folder, make another folder inside Clergy called 1, and save your song. next time you load 1, you work on it and then save it again in another folder inside Clergy called 2.

this way you don't have to delete your shit before saving it again...

there was a total of 1 fking folder in my songs folder on my hard drive

i just worked and worked on this song

and then the fccking machine freezes on new folder creation. what the HELL IS GOING ON? THIS MAKES ME FURIOUS, that's a total of 8 hours of work in the last 2 days gone.

this probably wont be any consolation, but ive done stuff before, and come back to it purely from memory (for example when fliping a sample) and it has come out better than the first version.....so maybe you would benefit from redoing the beat from what you can remember....

nothing will make you more furious. i've settled down and recreated what i lost. and yes it sounds better now. no it won't stop me from making beats...

but the feeling...of having to turn off a frozen mpc knowing full well that the only copy of this entire planet of your newest work is inside....
