PLEASE, PLEASE, HELP, HELP! I tried to update to the os version 2.10 but having trouble for hours. I did just like what it says to do at akai's website to upgrade and I just can't get it. Do I need to do something to the card like format it and if so, how do I do that? When the card is in the mpc, it sees the 2.10 file but I just don't get it. I have the memory card in and push window down and turn the power on like the website says. It says that a correct os file wasn't found. PLEASE, PLEASE, HELP, HELP! Here is my telephone number: 818-841-2131, if anyone can please help, please call me, John,
thanks in advance
ps. this is for an akai mpc 1000

i had a the same problem which i resolved by formatting a CF card in the MPC, adding only the new OS to that card and going through the upgrade procedure, i spotted on other posts that people had problems upgrading from versions below 1.7 directly to 2.

Do you have a manual? Otherwise I suggest you do a search on this site to find a link to the PDF version, as I presume you don´t have the patience to actually find it yourself on the Akai site.

If you´ve read the manual and tried a few times and you still don´t understand how you do it you can drag your **** up questions on to the forum.

Well, I had exactly the same problem....When I followed the process with my MAC computer, I would get that same error........Then I copied the OS file to the Flash card with my Windows PC that I have in my office and It worked. If you have a MAC computer and you'are experiencing the same problem try using a Windows computer to copy the OS file to the Flash card and try it......It should work

I'm using a pc but I think that I either need the upzip program and or I need to format the cf card. Did you do all this as well?
thanks,
John

the reason why ppl don't want to help with this sort of questions is because it just plain waste of time to quote large chunks of text out of the manual.
i'ts just easier for you to look it up.
try formating your CF (page 84 in the manual) and then follow the above
updateinstructions from AKAI step by step.
if you downloaded the updatefile from akaipro.com the file is, just like you
suggested, compressed into a zipfile.
use something like winzip to decompress it and the file inside is the updatefile to copy onto your newlyformatted CF card.
it's pretty basicstuff and its well documented.

it would'nt hurt to just experiment with these things and don't give up if it does'nt go right the first time.
now good luck updateing.
by the way is that your real phonenumber?

1.first try downloading the OS from another PC.
2.download winzip for free.
3. format your CF card to make sure no other OS is on there.
4. Plug in your MP,stick the formated card in and take the download os and
drag it to the cf card. Then turn on while holding key window button. then hit record button so mp can re-boot.

Thanks for all of you who called and emailed and tried to help. I did it! Every person that posted and emailed and tried to help, did. If you are not good with computers, the directions are not for you. I missed one step that was not mentioned but I guess if you have knowledge of a computer or know a lot about computers, then the conversion from the old to the new would be easy. For me, that was not the case. There should have been an extra suggestion or "to do" after point 7 above. The thing that I missed was to open the mpc1000_os_v210 with the zipper icon and then click on extract and then you have to copy and drag the mpc1000_os_v210 icon without the zipper to the mpc1000 icon. Now to me, if this was explained in detail the way I posted it, then maybe I wouldn't have had any problems or for that matter anyone else but I did. Any how, thanks again for all the people out there that tried to help. You guys are awesome. You guys will always be my mpc1000 brothers. In the future, if I need any help, I will definetly be back. Thanks again, John
