Anyone know why the '1000 pads cost $100 to replace while the '2000 cost $16 to replace?

Because the 1k requires more work to replace than the 2k does. Thats what im guessin at but not 100 percent sure.

when you buy new pads for the older models, you're only buying the pad cover (ie the rubber bit - there's no sensor under there).
when you buy the 1000 pads, you're buying the pad, sensor, graphite and skeleton.
when you buy the 1000 pads, you're buying the pad, sensor, graphite and skeleton.

Anyway, its better to buy all of the pads for 16 $ than buying only one pad for 16 $
