Question About connection of mpc to computer via USB

I just got a mpc and rite now I am in the process of trying to learn everything and I have a question about conecting the mpc via usb. When I do this it works fine, it appears on my computer as a harddrive and all that and I can do the "safely remove hardware" option from the computer without any problems however when I have to manually disconect the cable from the mpc everytime after I transfer files via usb because if I dont I cannot do anything on the mpc no buttons work and they wont let me do anything so I am obliged to disconect the cable everytime to get back to being able to use the mpc. I was wondering if there was an option or a certain key that I have to hit in order to get back into being able to use the mpc without having to disconect the cable everytime.

get a mem card reader and have it hooke up to the pc instead of using the 1k to transfer files.

or else u will have to deal with disconnecting and reconnecting the cord.

Does anyone have any reccomendations regarding a comopact flash reader for my Macintosh?? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The real answer to your question is no. In order for the computer to access the card while it is in the MPC, the computer needs to have exclusive access to the card. That is why all the MPC functions are locked out while the USB cable is connected to the MPC. This is a built in feature of the MPC to avoid the scenario that the MPC and computer might be trying to access the card at the same time, which could cause serious problems with the data and/or the card reader in the MPC.

Yes, you could get a card reader, but switching the card from a card reader to the MPC is just about the same amount of trouble as unplugging the USB cable, in my opinion.

I find it to be about 2x as fast to transfer on my computer when not using usb. Plus one less usb cable to worry about. I find it far more convient to pull the card. Plus you can still use any sounds loaded with the mpc while the card is out if you please.
