I had this pretty simple beat going (only one shots, no long samples), and it was playing fine...
Then I added 16th note hihats throughout the two bar beat, and when I played the loop again, all notes stopped playing!
I'm sure I'm far from the limit of the maximum note capacity.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there a way to fix it?

I´m sure if you browse the first 4 pages of this forum you´ll find plenty of people asking the same question, and I doubt any of them has left here with the problem unsolved.

I pretty much figured it out I think, left a post back a while ago so search for it.

Altho I see you didnt' have long notes so maybe you're experiencing something different.

I just think it's pretty wack.

The Akai MPC is supposed to be one of the best and most steady sequencers in the world...
This is not supposed to be happening...

I'm disappointed...

Check your parameters, it´s not the sequencer but your program that is causing this.
Search this forum to find the answer. Read the manual. Experiment with the parameters in your program.

Can someone post a link to the answer... I can't find it.

Answer these, one by one, and it´ll be easier to help you.

- How many programs does the beat use?

- If it´s several programs, are all programs experiencing the note cut off?

- Have you knowingly assigned any samples to mute groups?

- Have you sliced or chopped (in the MPC 1000) any samples that are part of your beat?

- If you sliced in the MPC, did you let the MPC automatically create a program for the slices or did you map them yourself?

- Are your samples stereo or mono?

- How many programs does the beat use? 2

- If it´s several programs, are all programs experiencing the note cut off? Yes

- Have you knowingly assigned any samples to mute groups? Some samples are assigned to mute groups, but that is not the problem...

- Have you sliced or chopped (in the MPC 1000) any samples that are part of your beat? No

- If you sliced in the MPC, did you let the MPC automatically create a program for the slices or did you map them yourself? No

- Are your samples stereo or mono? Some mono, some stereo

I can´t see any other possibility than reaching the polyphony limit as it effects both programs, but as you say that all notes stop that is probably not the case.
Your unit might be defect, some people has experienced lagging and strange behaviour when running loads of tracks but I haven´t read any about all notes stopping. Your unit might be defect.

I guess you have the programs set to POLY as the other sounds don´t cut each other off and your problem effects both progs. I´m clueless to this.

that shit happens to me too for absolutely no reason. Sometimes I'll play the beat and samples will cut out, sometimes I'll play it and they'll be fine. Very strange cause sometimes I won't even change anything and it'll play different.

I kind of like it though it makes you think about the beat a little differently. I've gotten a few ideas for beats from the glitches that happen when using a 1000. I've also lost like 8 hot beats thanks to crashes while using the step editor. Step edit is so unstable!! Thankyou akai!

Yeah, funny you said it... Cause my drop outs also happen when I'm in step edit mode. Strange...

Ohh...

Losing the last bar of the seq?

By Anders Mon May 08, 2006 9:41 am
Sometimes I lose part of the sequence, sometimes I lose the whole sequence...

this has been a known but "disputed" bug since the release of 2.0
many people have had it happen and no one seems to be able to supply a solution, nor does akai seem to be interested due to the unreproducable nature of the issue.
To combat this i have been saving the sequence every time i add something new, it's a hassle and makes me use my 1000 very little.
It is obviously not a polyphony problem, it frequently happens when using the "move" fuction in step edit. If you check each track you may find a note that plays prior to the beginning of the notes cutting out and at a strange time, i've found that if i find and delete said note, it fixes the problem...
hope any of this can help.
cheers.
