Filtering an entire program

Forgive me if this has been answered alreafy guyz!
After searching for the last half hour, i still can't figure this.

Is it possible to apply a filter to an entire program, for example a bar of a breakbeat cut into 16 pieces and spread out on the pads - my favourite technique from S3000 dayz,

Then I would like to use the q-links to adjust the filter and pitch on the entire program at once....is this possible?? - It should be!!

reample the phrase you're trying to filter and add that onto the program in question. apply the filter to that one long sample, record the sample and then sweep it.

it's a little frustrating because you can't go back and make minute adjustments without further resampling, but it works.

when i want to filtersweep, i usually just make a mental note and then use my sp404 or mpc and record my movements as an audio file, then just overwrite the section which i had noted earlier. this keeps me concentrating on orchestration and progression rather than cosmetic details during the construction process.

admittedly, though, when you're doing a breakdown and want to have your drums lopass filter out, it'd be nice to have a better way to do it instead of a clunky 8 bar sample of your own drums...

Thanks for the good advice Antonym, I guess for me I use filters as integral parts of my tunes (which are generally subtle builders) and not just "cosmetics", I'll just have to adapt.

Guess that the MPC is forcing me to deal with solid hooks,
which is probably a good thing, stop me making sprawling
complicated beasts of tunes that rise up for ages!

Well , you could assign all your samples in the program to outputs 3/4 , then connect cables from out 3/4 to the inputs and select a filter on the input thru menu.
Although i don't know if you can automate that or save the settings.
Assigning a filter to a program is definitely something i'd like to see in a future update.

Would I be able to control the filter on the inputs in realtime using q-link?

I don't have my mpc1000 here at the moment cause it's being repaired but i would say yes.
I can also do it on my mpc2500 and the os works alot like the 1K.
Just go to the input thru menu and select a filter , then go to the Q-link menu and select "
Assign Pad: IN
then you can select the filter or whatever you like to controll.

Fasttracker if this works then your a beauty.

Whoa, nice technique Fasttracker. Its relatively simple but just never occured to me. I love how there is always a way to get something done, or do it better, just gotta think outside the box. Thanks for the tip can't wait to try it.

Just watch out for loops in your audio-path , don't use the stereo outputs cause the "input thru" is default to stereo out.
