sample mute sample...

Is there any way to play a sample, then have a small mute gap (defined you pressing and holding a pad) in the middle of it, and then have the rest of the sample play. I know this can be done throught the trim screen but Im wondering if you can do this in a more rhythmical way, on the fly. cheers people!

chop your samples note per note and just don't play the pad you want muted

lfo set to 100 on the level field, use a square wave. that will have repeating silences throughout the sample's duration at regular intervals (set by the rate field). that's a quick and dirty answer to your problem, but in reality antonym's strategy is the best, you just have to be prepared to put in the work. until mpcs are voice activated, you'll have to do it manually.

Try this: Assign one of the Q-link sliders to the pads mixer volume and yank that up and down. Might not give instant silence in the cuts, but if you experience a fading effect you could edit the slider data in step edit to give it a steeper cutting curve.
