problems in the step-edit

i playing live a track into the mpc. after that i want programm some new notes in it, put i can only jump to the recorded notes, but not to the empty steps.

i don't know why. sorry for my bad english, but i hope you know what i mean.

there is no such thing as an 'empty step' in the MPC1000. In step edit, hit the button where it says INSERT, and there you can enter a note at whatever position you want.

In step edit mode you can use the the Bar and Step keys in the Locate area (just above the Overdub & Stop keys) to change the current Now position (top left hand corner) and navigate to those "empty" locations in your sequence. Once you've set Now to the right location, hit the Overdub key (the LED lights) and you can now hit a pad and enter a hit at that location. Or use the Insert key method Ryssen suggested to insert a pad hit or any other kind of supported MIDI event.

Alternately use the cursor keys to navigate to the Now field and use the numeric entry mode to just enter the position you want to insert an event at.
