my mpc froze when loading samples

Ive had my MPC 1000 for about 3-4 months now and hav never had a problem with it. Tday it started to freeze up when loading samples and now it wont even recognize the usb connection to my laptop???!! And when i try formatting my flash memory card it keeps sayin "insert memory card" when its clearly already inserted!! why is this happening ? do i need to upgrade from the 16mb installed? please any help would be awesome as im racking my brains trying to figure out if my mpc has had it

You probably went over the 16 MB. Try dumping some of the info (kits or sequences) from the CF card and see if it works.

what O/S are you running on your laptop? if it's Windows, are you disconnecting it properly? you should be removing/stopping the connection from the computer prior to physically disconnecting the USB cable from the computer/1k... hope that helps some...

my lappy is runnin windows xp home, previously wen i would plug the usb into my laptop and then load up from the mpc , the box on the laptop would automatically come up . but now it doesnt, and when i go to open it up my "my computer" usb f drive, it just freezes up. the whole mpc freezes up wen i try and load from the memory card now. when i take it out , the mpc works fine. its a 512mb sandisk compact flash memory card, has anyone else had any dramas with these. im pretty sure its the card thats the problem.

i had mad problems when i first got my mpc. I corrupted the memory card a few times, (luckly only factory presets) but a year on, using the same memory card, i've had no problems since the first few days i had the mpc. I figure its down to using the mpc usb connection. I would use an external card reader instead; faster and no bugs!

oh word? that sounds like it could be the solution, how much are the CF card reader/writers??
