sup everyone, i'm new to this forum and i just had a question.

so my friend left his MPC at my house for me to borrow so i can learn some stuff before i get my own. i sampled some stuff and assigned to the pads and what not but whenever i pressed the pads, the whole sample would play rather than just the first hit or what not. so what i'm wondering is how to make it so that the sample plays its whole length when i hold down the pad, and how to make it so that i can hit numerous pads without samples playing over eachother.

i read in the manual about a SUDDEN key and i tried it but i don't think i was doing it right. can anyone please help me out so i can make some music. thanks in advance

Read in the manual about NOTE ON. Go to the PROGRAM screen (the 1st one) and press the WINDOW key when your cursor is on the name of the sample. You will see 4 slots, each coresponding to a layer of the pad. They default to ONE SHOT which means the whole sample will play. Change it to NOTE ON and then the sample will only play for as long as you hold the pad.
