I'm thinking of buyin a small midi keyboard controller to connect to the mpc1000 (wich i ordered recently). Is it usefull to have knobs in the midi controller? can i assign the knobs to control the desired mpc parameter and record them real-time?

for example: can i assign knob1 to filter cutoff, knob2 to amp attack, knob3 to amp decay and control the selected sound/program?

I'm not sure on this one. Take the manual and search for the MIDI-specifiactions. If for example the MPC1K accepts CC (control change) messages for its own filter cutoff, amp attack,.... then YES. But I doubt it.

Yes, i doubt it too because I already checked the manual and found nothing written about this. So knobs in a midi controller for the mpc are useless?

mostly useless unless you also have your mpc connected to some kind of module that can accept the knob messages.

for instance if i have my novation remote 25 --> mpc 1k --> dsi evolver then i can tweak multiple parameters on the evo using the remote knobs.

The Oxygen 8 is good if your using Reason as a sound module as well.
