I was wondering if there is a list of pro/cons of the MPC 1000 vs the MPC 2000xl. I have an MPC 2000xl and I was thinking about trading it in for the 1000. The 1000 seems to have more features, its smaller and its CHEAPER.
If I sell my 2000xl, I can get the 1000 and even make money on top of that.
Let me know if this is a good idea or I am just stupid. Thanks

the posts... there are plenty. I wouldn't do that, I would get it in addition to the XL. I am going to get one, but I am waiting until the price drops.

CueBiz,

I remember seeing a well thought out list of comparisons somewhere. If I run across it again then I will post it here. The features of the MPC1000 are roughly comparable to the 2000XL. You gain some things and lose others.

Don't sell your 2000XL to get the 1000. No one knows how good or bad the 1000 is going to be. You should add it to your studio instead of replacing the 2000XL.

The delivery date for the MPC1000 has been postponed until 12/10/03. Let's hope there are no more delays. I have one on order along with the memory card.

Thanks for the feedback. If anything I'll wait till I have enough money to cop the 1000 in addition to my 2000xl.

Another question, WHat is a good software or hardware to make my samples sound "Warmer" and "fuller"? Sometimes my samples sound weak and the quality has more treble then bass.
What can solve this problem?

Sounds like you want a Wave Editor.

Any Wave Editor names that you recommend.
I was also reading about the Eb 16 FX Card and it says you can change the EQ using this. Will this help fix up my samples?
Thanks again.

As far as hardware goes I use an aural exciter (Aphex with the Big Bottom) and a Focus Right compressor. For software I use Sound Forge.

I was checking out some compressors and that sounds like what I need. Would I hook my turntable up to the compressor and then the compressor to my MPC?
Do I run the samples straight from the turntable through the compressor?

Thanks

MPC1000 does not have the timestretch, autochromatic assign, zoning edits, SCSI, but the MPC1000 does have:

24 part multitimbral (the XL was 4)
Can load over 6000 sounds confirmed (XL holds 256)
Dual filters (xl only has one 2-pole LP)
2 insert effects and 2 main effects (XL has 4 bus)
144 meg memory with expansion (XL max at 32)
4 independant samples per pad (XL only one per pad but you could link 2 other pads that has samples)

and a few others.

In my own humble opinion I believe now is the time to sell your old mpc's. Why? because price drops on old akai mpc's(except the 4000) is inevitable. Just imagine if the mpc1000 lives up to a higher expectation, the mpc 2000 will become obsolete while the 2000xl will drop down a few hundreds.
It all depends on wether you consider your mpc2000xl to be priceless, if so, stay with it. Just dont start bytching down the road when you see the retail price drop to like $999.99 for the standard version, While the mpc1000 gets sold out evrywhere.

p.s. the mpc 60 and the mpc 3000 are priceless. I wouldnt reccomend selling those units, i'm mainly talking about the 2000 versions, tho they may also become more available now that the 1000 is bout to drop.
