Sampling Tempo?

How do you find the original tempo of a sample from a record? I would like to start using the timestretch feature, but i can never get this thing right. is there a better/faster way of trying to do this?

It takes time bud. Just play around with Timestretch and eventually you'll get it down. Here's a link that will help you calculate BPM's

Count the bars and determine the time sig.
Create a seq with the proper time sig and amount of bars.
Insert a note on the first tick of that seq, assigned to the pad with your sample.
Let the seq loop and adjust the BPM until you get a clean playing loop.
Note the BPM value.

just count the beats and determine how many bars ,then try timestretching to fit the sample loop.

Timestretching is a last resort in my opinion.

I don't know wich mpc you are using ,but on da 200xl it tells you the bpm before you timestretch according to how many beats you say are in the sample.
