my LCD screen looks dark, can i fix this?

i just got my mpc1000 used.
the LCD looks dark... it doesn't have as much contrast as i've seen on brand news ones in guitar center. is there a way to adjust the contrast on the screen?

That's funny. Happy to help - I can't remember if I read that. I was just thinking to myself, wouldn't it be cool if holding shift+turning data wheel scrolls through a sample quicker in trim mode? Sadly, it just made the screen go darker and brighter.
