i've never heard the quality of the new direct recording feature on the 1k - curious to know if it sounds alright just to do some demo songs with - does it take up sampling time?? it would be vocals i'd be laying down...anyone who has used it on the 1k let me know it would be greatly appreciated

This thread is going to be killed soon, but not before this comment.

The mpc's Direct recording tracks sound pretty good at 44.1, 16bit**, but do not yet work correctly as of beta17. I've recorded bass, guitar, vox and synths using this feature and other than the timing, pitch, sample and playback bugs that haven't been worked out yet, it's nice to work with.

When Direct Recording gets a little more stable in future builds, then I would definitely say that it would be good to do demos on.

Yes these Direct Recordings do take up sampling time, but you can do a lot more than you'd think with 128 megs at this bit and sample rate (24m 28sec mono).

**The sound quality of the recordings are also dependent on what pres, effects and converters (the mpc's or outboard converters thru Spdif) that you use.

I was thinking that also. Oh, and source material/gear.
