hey forum,
i just discovered a simple solution to mpc's "transpose all except drum" limitation. if this is common sense, well, delete my thread, but i use my mpc since 1998 and NEVER thought about this.
since then, i hate not to be able to transpose my drums. ie i work with a kick, load another pgm and want to change the kick from pgm1 pad a10 to pgm2 pad b01 but i don't want to change every single kick in step edit. i alway did it with step edit, but now i found out:
1. in step edit, record the kick you want to change to and keep the midi-note value
2. delete this kick again
3. look at the value of the old kick
4. go to main screen, switch this track vom drum to midi, set the pgm 'off'
5. in seq edit, select only the old midi-note (ie. c#1 37 - c#1 37) and transpose the old kick to the new one (ie 82). if the range is higher than +12 or -12 notes, you need to do some simple calculation.
example:
old kick: midi note 37
new kick: midi note 81
81 - 37 = 44, need to transpose 44 halftones. you need 4 steps:
(c#1 37 - c#1 37) + 12 = 49
(d1 49 - d1 49) + 12 = 61
(g3 61 - g3 61) + 12 = 73
(b4 73 - b4 73) + 9 = 81
voila, now you need to change from midi to drum again in main screen, choose you drum pgm and you have a new kick.
hope this helps!
