trigger my moog prodigy with mpc1000?

i'm assuming i'd need a cv/midi converter box, but once i have that, can i program my mpc to play arpeggios on my prodigy?

does anyone here do this kind of thing?

I've never tried it, but yes, a MIDI->CV converter ought to do the trick.

i'm wondering how easy it would be do this... i'm seconds away from buying an analog sequencer, but at the last moment i realized the my mpc IS a sequencer.

but programming arpeggiator parts with the mpc seems like it would be really cumbersome, i'm hoping someone here has experience doing that so they could shed a little light on the process.

it is fairly cumbersome and unfortunately the grid editor in OS 3.0 only works for MPC pads, not for MIDI (you could set up the notes on your pads to correspond to whatever scale you were working in and that might work...). however if you have a good handle on step-timing, the step editor would work fine but takes a little patience. Another option would be to get a program on your pc that has a decent grid editor then record the midi-out from the pc onto the MPC.

Does the analog sequencer you're looking at have a CV clock in for timing? (I can't imagine it doesn't) You could drive that from the MPC's clock, or, more interestingly a MIDI note from a pattern - funky synchronized variable clock ahoy!

I guess what I'm trying to do is tell you to go ahead and splurge on both the analog sequencer and a MIDI->CV converter.

And definitely post some audio sequences once it's all going. Could be madness.

i think you can also get standalone arpeggiators.
