I use a Roland SPD to trigger my MPC. For the pads that a triggered by my SPD, I am working on layering in my drums. Right now, only 2 layers per pad. I have already separated their layers by level/range/Tune--> Pitch Mod. Want some recommendations as to amp and filter envelope settings.

I will post my progress. Please contribute.

So far I layer the same sound on top of the same sound then adjust them enough, so its not the same exact sound.

I particularly need help with the following for now.

kicks / bass drums
snares / rims
hh's

I read posts from some other cats who were not overwhelmingly satisfied with that above mentioned Tutorial...

I had a lot of issues with “phasing” so I’m less into layers now and more into velocity parameters. I’ve realized that messing with them too much gives you 2 wild results, but a changing 0 to 12-25 makes your drums a bit more realistic. I think I will only use layers provided I need to get 2 different samples out the same pad on my spd.

Example, I need to be able to him both a snare and rim shot option. I will separate the layers with little to no overlap in velocity. If I up lower the velocityvolume parameter on the “lower” sample, i will still get a loud enough sound.
