Looping for Infinite Sustain

Im try to loop sample tha will last for as long as u hold the pad down. I know it damn near impossible to do on the 2.1 OS because it was hard to zoom. On this New OS Im confused how to do it what that new Joint feature. Any have any tips on how to loop sample Its hard setting the correct point with out hearing clicks..

1) what type of sound is it? (horn,bass)
2)its very hard to make it sound good and continuous unless its a low bass sound (in my experience)

im wonderin the same thing,,,i need some good bass lines but dont know how to "hold" my notes .....do i neeed a midi keyboard to truly do this?

no a midi keyboard will not make a difference.

ok,,well,,,how do you hold your notes then?....thike if i want a long bass note or something,,?

Some sounds are hard to do infinite sustain on.

Some sounds are easy.

ie, a pure sinewave is ONLY a "S" shape sitting sideways, that is a single cycle and can be looped infintely easier than anything else when you use zero crossing points.

ie, a VERY complex sound like a string, imo most of the time have to sampled for at least 2-4 seconds and your inifinte loop points will be stretched out over SEVERAL zero cross points and even then it may not sound right.

So there is no 1 solution for this infinite sustain, the less complex of a waveform you are dealing with the more chance a novice has at getting that infinite sustain going.

you know what's way easier than finding sustain and loop points?

someone probably has another term for it, but i call it "blurring."

put your sample on one pad, set it as Note On and give it a smooth decay.
copy this to the next pad and give it a smooth attack.

go into trim and copy the sound itself, and them trim off the first 1/3rd of the sample (if the sample has a definitive attack sound)

put this new sound on a 3rd pad and give it a smooth attack/decay. leave note off on this one. also, make DAMN sure it's polyphonic.

now, play your first pad and hold it. then, tap the third pad repeatedly. the attack and decay are so smooth taht it sounds like a continuous sample, doesn't it?

the middle pad can be used if you want more variation than just tapping the 3rd pad.

this takes a little experimentation but is my favorite sustain technique. i've never looped a sample in my life in TRIM mode, i just program it to loop. waaay easier that way, i think.

that sounds awsome and all but ive had me mpc less than a month, and i havent got to editing the sample wave forms attack and decay and all that,,,have no idea how to and am learning one thing at a time.....hopefully ill get to that soon, cause alotta my beats really need a bassline in em...
