Just wanted to say thanks to all those who gave me advice while I was doing my research... My 1000 finally arrived today and I'm psyched. I ended up with a black 1000, 80GB Hard Drive, and 128Megs of RAM.

Now I need to pick up tutor's ebook because I have no idea what I'm doing and I want to learn this baby inside and out.

I have to say I'm loving this 80GB drive and 128MB of RAM. I'm used to my Korg ESX so I always have to switch out banks if I want to work on a new project. With the MPC I just dumped all of the samples I have on my computer to the hard drive and now I have EVERYTHING right at my fingertips and I still have massive amounts of space left over.

It's going to be a lot of fun figuring out how to best integrate this with the rest of my gear.

Anyway, thanks all & peace.

Congrats, Mura!
I know you've been waiting for a while now, and I'm sure it was worth the wait. That's cool that you got it loaded with the EXM128 and an 80gb drive. I have the EXM128 as well as an 80gb drive (Seagate), and I never looked back at software sequencers since then (about 2 years ago). I used to use my friend's MPC2000, so the transition to the 1000 was relatively smooth (though I havent used a 2000 in quite a few years).

Definitely buy Tutor's book, as you mentioned. He's very good with thoroughly explaining things and wording them properly. I may even buy the book as well. From what I understand, there's something in it for everyone, reguardless of skill level.

Best of luck with your MPC. 8)

Thats crazy man, how much did you end up paying for that? I just recently got my 1000 off of Ebay for $700 but now I want to get the upgrade for the ram. But that 80 gb harddrive you got is crazy!!

Hard drives are insanely cheap now. I got the 80GB Hitachi mentioned on Akai's site and it was only like $80. They dropped in price a lot even in the last couple of months.

Just got word that the new OS is scheduled to drop in Mid-September. They think they will need about a month after the release to clean up the bugs.

Good timing indeed.
