hey guys im back agin with my fixed mode button yay thanks to u all :)... um i got a question on sampling with just an mpc1000 and a synth. ok the way i sample is easier for me when it comes to voice or instrumental i usee my computer and fruityloops as my daw. fruity loops though is not my master in my setup and u may ask me how the **** did i do that? its simple but thats not the point..see fruity loops is unstable as my daw because it has problem syncing in midi but its great wehn it works. i can run audio from my mixer sends to my fruityloops and i can chop and splice that way with dead on accuracy..in the end i have a perfect loopd sample redy to be loaded to my mpc. i dont use fruity loops cause its sequencer is junk but its tracker is great but has lil midi options. u get what u pay for i geuss

im looking into hardware daws now but theres so many and im not sure if its a wise choice to go with hardware for my daw unless u guys know of a cheaper solution wheter its software or hardware. i need somthin thatll allow me to splice perfect loops like fruityloops but fruityloops like i said doesnt allow to be slave unless u ghetto rigged it like i did and even then its not reliable. i need somthin reliable cxause 2 hours tweaking asio just to get one recording is ridiculous.

heres my other question its about sampling instrumental with no daw. how do u guys sample instrumental when the downbeat isnt visible and its mixed in with noise from cheap cables? see thast my issue now is i cant determine wheter or not im seeing the instruments voice or just cable noise even when i use logerathmic mode in mpc. i can hear wheter its noise or not by using the mpc to and from pads. from there i make my start and end points. im sure theres also a mathimatical way of figureing out a perfect loop when beats are known what are the formulas and what methods do u guys use when sampling?

i have like 2 formulas right now ima dig them up and post them if u guys would like some formulas i got from bigryan over at futureproducers wish this guy was still around im sure hes got many formulas he was a 1.7 genious

 NOW THATS A MACHINE **** hell good god that thing is pimp except for the cdrw drive and the 24 bit recording feature thast insane. but who uses 24 abit anyways? not i lol but thats what im talkn about though thats like the mpc4000 of daw lol. ya this thing has a phrase looper thats cool thats what i need . but the price is expensive. lol damn if i had more cash in my piggy bank i would finance this and get it but as i read i dont see how i can tranfer the spliced phrase back to the mpc agin makes me not want it now :-(, it dont have a cfcard reader on this yamaha. dude this thing is a midi king look at all these features wtf ...MIDI: MTC (Master / Slave), MIDI Clock (Master), MMC (Master / Slave), Program Change, Control Change

with a phrase looper i can sacrifice my mpc to be slave but i cant afford this yamaha :-(

what other daws out there exsist that work well with my mpc1000? and what do u type to find this stuff? i can search daw or digital audio workstations but all i get are links to computers with logic or ableton. i found one at the korg website um ill get back to u on witch one it was u guys can hit me up on wheter its junk or not lol

omg 650 dude how the **** did u pull that one off, lol u got mad bargaining skillz i be affraid if i saw u in the street u would sell me desert sand lol, man 650 thats awesome price btw i found the one daw i was checkn out but i aint see nothn about no phrase looper, then agin its not gonna say phrase looper.

tell me somthin about the daw u did have were u able to record ur beats to ur yamaha daw and cut it by the tracks line? say if the beat started at 2:01:00 but ended at 4:01:00, are u able to cut the sound out at 2:01:00 to 4:01:00? all my work is done on the mpc1000 i rely heavily on its tic corrections so can this daw that u once have had, did it allow u to cut by tics? if so man im in love. i need a daw that can let me cut by tics sense its all midi

anyone here ever use the d1200mkII? if so same question can u cut by tics on this machine?

I didnt use half of what that thing could do...
All I would use it for was the filters and effects...

the akai dps 12 is a nice recorder also. got mtc etc etc. but no phrase looper, but there is easy workaround for this.

with any hardware DAW, if you have recorded your track midi synced. then, just switch to a BAR|Beat time view. then just cut it were you want!

most modern daw have this function : time displaying or bar, beat display. so you are always accurate.

when you use a DAW you dont loose any "timing correction" as a daw only record audio signal.

ya thast the way i do it in fruityloops when i get it to work on me lol. see i would stick with fruityloops but its my interface and lack of more memory that i think is the problem, im ready for any switch wheter it be a hardware or software solution. ya as long as i can cut the way u discribe it im safe with any modern daw i pick, i hope. do u have experience with the d1200mkII?

when u say it like that it sounds like daw records like the mpc1000 and its setup of its treshold and not by midi information start and stop. are u telling me its an option to record with a threshold limit and no midi? if so thast what i invisiond of a daw. ya its a pain in the ass to manually cut say violins that have an attack so high u cant tell wheter its noise or violins.to find its downbeat is a hunt. in my mpc1000 theres like a huge gap from 0 to where the sample kicks in on the trim menu, i hope daws arent like this. if i can cut by bars and beats ill be set

not at all sorry. i have a dps12 only, and i will probably sell it soon, as i switch to a digital mixer and computer recording.

a quick look at the manual of this machine can anwser you i guess.

my very "little" experience with hardware DAw such as dps12 or the vs1680 is there where no threshold when you record. the DAw start recording when you hit REC + start , that's all. so the benefit of using midi there, is it will avoid you the need of trimming bad track starting. every track will start when it will be triggered by the mpc.

my english is so bad, not sur i am clear. but i think you have understood me.

ie : you have some violins on a track and some noise collected from the audio cable, cheap jack inputs etc etc. you just want to be sure to record ALL the violins.

if you synced by midi the DAW with your main midi sequencer ( here the mpc 1k) and allow one or 2 bar free (from 0:1:00 to 2:1:00) for syncing properly the two units.

the violin track will start when it have to start as you have program it in your sequencer ( say it starts At 2:1:00). then you will just have to select all your recorded track on the DAW and cuts from 0:1:00 to 2:1:00.
so your are sur to get all the violins.

thanks guys this has been great help. one last question sense i dont think there is any physical way of cutting in the mpc1000 to bars or beats using the trim window without out a daw. for me i find it easier to cut withn a daw, it may jsut be me but i sample small in the mpc1000 i rarely sample huge and i dont know anything about reading samples correctly, yes its true i dont know digital signal processing yet one day i will. i dont wanna bother u guys fro a quick course in it. but my question is simple and noobie. where are u guys finding daws at on these websites? somthing as grand as that yamaha daw was like how come i didnt see that one before u know that thing is beast. i geuss is how do u find them and what are good sites that are trusty with good prices used or new? guitar center to me is pricey as hell. write back :D

Musicians have that feeling and they are hearing perfect loop without drums upon it! I do it like that! I can here loops everywhere! Like guys already said - trust your ears and trust your feeling because how you will chop your sample the way the song is going to be made! That is where the producers and styles vary!

Protoolz is the industry standard, try checking into it. MPC's is industry standard. So you figure out what the big boys are using. 8)
