Hi, just got a MPC1000 but the DATA wheel doesn´t scroll thru diffrent options/numbers but only switches between two, that is instead of scrolling 123456... etc it just goes 12121212... etc. it is obvious that this is not supposed to be like this and renders the MPC more or less useless. I write this to ask if this is a known problem that has a simple solution or (that I think is more likely) if I have to return it an get a new one.

Thanks,

Max

Fixing it yourself would be a good way to go if it weren't brand new; since it is, I'd just take it back and ask for a swap, if it's easy to get to where you bought the thing.

Just a thought, though. Does the datawheel do that in all places you're trying to use it? If the field you're adjusting has only two values, 1 or 2, then I think that might be 'expected behaviour' rather than an error.

It does it with all sorts of values everywhere i´ve tried it. I have to cover the shipping costs from Europe to the US and back to get a new unit, so I was looking for a quick and safe fix, if there is any....

Oh man, that's a pain. I'd look into finding a replacement part, as suggested by antonym. I'm pretty sure that there is an Akai parts distributor in the UK. They might even do repairs there. I'm afraid that the name escapes me right now, though ... I thought it might be piedog, but I just visited their site, and I can't find the spares section.
