can somebody help

I have 3 cds full of sounds kicks snares bass everything but how do I get them off the cd and onto the mpc I have been trying all day I have my usb cord hooked up to the computer and the mpc just freezes up do I need a hard drive or something and when I try to upgrade my OS the mpc just freezes what is up with that

copy the samples from CD to your computer HD... make sure the .wav files are in proper format for the 1k (you may need to edit them before loading them into the mpc)... then transfer the samples to your MPC via USB or CF card...
