Down loading Sounds

I'm trying to down loan sounds from my Mac to my MPC 1000 however, when I connect my usb to my MAC, I'm no longer receiving the disk icon that appears on your desk top? My MPC is indicating that it is connected but I have not drive icon to drag and drop my sounds? At one point I would receive the drive icon but not more. What happen? Can someone help me? I also purchased a new memory flash card, but my mpc indicates that there is no memory card installed when I have it in the slot?
