mbox2, pro tools, mpc1000

anyone use this combination? my samples im taking myself and recording into the mpc are significantly more quiet than the default drum samples on the mpc and other drum samples i get, and ive tried every setting for stereo and mono and it seems to be the same problem, theres also not much of a difference between digital and analog with analog just giving me more feedback...can anyone help me? thanks

What are you sampling from? Is it an umamplified turntable output? If that's the case, you should get hold of a phono pre-amp to boost your table's output before sampling.

Did you try adjusting the record level control?

You can also normalize your samples to boost the volume, but if you're starting with a low signal level, you might find that this gives very noisy results, since any noise in the sample will be boosted together with the signal itself when you normalize the sample. It's better to find out why your input to the sampler is so quiet, and fix that.
