Playing Bass on the MPC

If someone can answer this, it would help me out a lot with trying to mess with bass on the 1000. Is there a way to have the bass or any sound only play for the duration of time that you have your hand on the pad? In other words, is there a way to avoid having the entire sample played out when just tapping a pad? Also, can this be done without using the slider?? I want to be able to set a bass tone to 16 levels and play it that way, but I don't want the whole bass sample to play out if I just tap a pad. If anyone knows how to do this, it would be much appreciated.

note on... but when you go into 16 level mode you'll find that the notes will cut each other off when you play more than one note at a time because the note off message applies to every pad in the 16 levels. so you'll wanna add some volume decay to the release, or program your samples chromatically to the pads (in your program) and avoid using 16 level for playing melodies if the notes getting cut off in 16 levels bugs you.

What you want to do is read the manual

My question is similar to topic! Can anyone in a quick way tell me how to play samples in POLY (so that they overlap a bit) when the Note On mode is activated!! When I play some instruments in Note On mode they cut when switching notes but I want them not to cut so immediate! I want a ployphonic harmony but so long as I am holding the pads! And please don't send me to manual!

Ok guys! Nevermind! I was lazy and figured it out in few minutes! It's the decay feature in programm! My lazy a** sometimes makes miracles lol
