I have my mpc 1000 hooked up to a cheap yamaha keyboard midi in/out.
All I want to do is be able to play different voices from the keyboard on separate tracks in the mpc. The mpc is the master, and the audio from the yamaha is routed to record in on mpc.
So, I used the yamaha manual index to look up the program change numbers, and bank numbers for the different voices, and i set my mpc to midi, pgm: no 1, and channel 1a. Then i highlighted the pgm on the main screen and hit window, and i changed the numbers according to the index from the yamaha manual, but it does nothing when i hit pads on mpc all i get is the default grand piano voice. Please anyone have general tips on how i can get this working.
Also when i record play on the mpc and start hitting keys on the yamaha, the notes are not recorded and the keyboard doesn't play anything back, shouldn't i be able to do this even if the keyboard is the slave?
