mpc midied up

I got my mpc hooked up to my keyboard but when i go to play something I only hear one note through the MPC and when I hit the keys I still hear sound I know MIDI is silent do I need a mixer or something I have a concertmate 980

you have a concertmate? it should have a manual with it. i suggest that u brush up on that captain

well captain I bought it used so I don't have a manual

the keyboard should have outs. the mpc is a sampler.

My setup is like this fam: Mpc 1000 (master) midi to micron (slave) the micron and the mpc is hooked up to my mixer. the outs from the mixer goes to my multitrack recorder (master) midi to my mpc (slave) when i record.

you need a mixer so u can have the audio outs of both the synth(kbd) and the Mpc running into 1(or 2 L and R) signal(channel)..........MIDI doesnt transfer sound, just note information,variation info,etc....... Heres the settings for both(i dont know a concertmate,but midi is midi, just some companies have different names for certain parameters).................... AKAI MPC1k-Main screen Type:MIDI PGM:No. 1(or 2,3,4,etc..) MIDI:1a(or B/or 2a/b,3a/b,etc...) synth- Local off, midi channels start at(begin with,etc..): 1, Midi Mode-MULTI channel make sure the midi connections are correct---does the concertmate have MIDI in,out,thru(which does it have all of em or, just....?) Let us know the whole scenario, how do u have it hooked up,what kind of equip do u have, how u have the connections,etc.....? Peace.

it has the normal in and out holes and right now all I have is my computer the mpc and the keyboard i am not really sure what i wanna get yet i dont even have speakers i use headphones i have only had my mpc for a few weeks and i want to learn how to work that pretty good b4 i jump to something else

Do these "holes" have any labeling i.e. "Audio" or "Midi"? You need both if you want remote control *and* audio.

You're actually talking about an old Radio Shack Moog Concertmate?

If you've got midi on one of those, it's a retrofit. Some retrofit jobs can be sketchy. And with no documentation, you may just have to go through some trial and error sending different messages on different channels etc. You do know how to configure the MPC Midi out right (don't worry, that's in the manual)?

That's assuming there is a midi input on the thing *and* it works to begin with...

this is what i found

^^^ connect the headphone output to the mpc1000's inputs (use the input-thru feature, so it will play right through the mpc). you'll need a 1/4" stereo y-cable.

Tec if he hooks up the concertmate to his MPC's audio(record)in, he'll have to disconnect and reconnect when he wants to sample and then play the synth--what he really needs to do is get DJ mixer and hook the concertmate up to that and run the mixer into the mpc and sample it or if the midi's legit midi it up and run the audio out to the mixers audio in 1 and the mpc to the mixers audio in..and when he gets a turntable get another DJ mixer or buy aregular Behringer 4 ch and use that as the master mixer and use the dj mixer as his MPC Record in(Sampling) mixer---cuz lets face it eventually he will need a mixer to run all the audio out for all his gear and another to run his turntable(if/when he gets one or already has 1) and other audio sample sources into the MPC's audio(record)in. If this sounds confusing, sorry im a lil seasoned in audio hook up. I'll be glad to help u out in anyway-but it looks like u should get a mixer-and as for speakers--if u got a stereo of your own or a component system with an audio input connection(RCA type) use that... if u got a lil shelf stereo use that til u can get a pa system or a decent Stereo receiver like a Pioneer or a JVC,etc.. and a decent set of speakers...Headphones are nice 4 werkin at night or listenin to finished joints are listen to records for samples and really studying them closely lookin for some ill $**t. Anyway be a lil more descriptive and that will help us help u!
