Help! OS wiped off

I need some help!! I just got my mpc 1000, went to upgrade the OS to 2.1 but after I loaded it on and then installed it - the screen is completely blank! I tried re-writing it, same deal though. I can't get my comp to display the MPC as anything so I can't load on a different OS file to start over..... the file I used was called mpc1kv210 got it from: http://www.akaipro.com/supportos.php

Anyone heard of this happening? suggestion?

First, try powering on the MPC while holding down the ERASE key. This is the factory reset procedure and should always be performed after an update.

If you still get a blank screen, try adjusting the contrast by holding down shift and rotating the data wheel.

Don't you mean before an update? I believe that when you do the reset, it will revert your OS back to whatever OS the machine shipped with. Then you can install your os update after that.

No, I meant after -- first powerup after install. That's the way I've been doing it all along.

How could it revert to a previously installed OS after said OS has been erased and overwritten during the install process? Where would it be stored for retrieval? Never happened to me and be pretty dumbfounded if it did...

You do have to reset the global settings such as sync and autoload, but you have to do that anyway.

I stand corrected... I've never had to use the reset myself, so thanks for the clarification.

I fixed it - thanks for the replies though. I had to use a seperate drive to put a new OS on the disk then onto the machine. But now I got another question hah. I'll check where to post it...
