I am buying 1K.
Any tips on how not to get phucked ?

testing pads, outputs ..?
any hidden commands ?

I have an a SP1200 and 2000xl so I know what I am doing but never had 1k before.

what can i say

pads usually are less sensitive in all the mpc1000 after some use... so
there's a test pad however

SHIFT (keep press) and press D then C then B then A
if i remember well... only with original akai os

doing that you have a test screen pad.. everytime you press a pad you see the velocity.. and so you can understand if the pads are well

but if u are on ebay... finger crossed
