this problem started out of no where, i would put in my 128mb flashcard to save a recorded song and it would freeze my whole mpc, when i take out the card out the mpc works fine. it got even worse when i load the mpc with the card in it and it freezes once the main screen loaded... please tell me this has to do with a **** flashcard and not my mpc crappin out on me.

i searched around the forum and couldnt find anything related, if someone knows what the deal is, please tell! thanks.

look into your card reader to see if any of the pins are bent.

try using another CF card.
if the mpc still freezes, you have a defective card reader.
been there ,done that.
akai still dont have them in stock, as far as i know.
if you're under warranty, send it to VST and they will replace your mpc with a new model.

does your screen also just go blank and all you can see is the green back light???

The same thing happened to me now. I've tried with different compact flash cards but the Mpc can't read them. Can this problem be fixed? replace the cf reader in the mpc, or do I have to get a new one?

mines just started freezing yesterday.

is it because i was removing samples from the card via my computer?

the only time mine got stucked was when i happened to copy a sequence to the same sequence.

Unfortunately, that means your card reader is defective. What's worse is that there are still none in stock at Akai/Numark or VST either... and it's been like that for well over a year now, from what I understand. Many parts (including the card reader) still havent shipped out from Akai Japan yet. Best thing to do in the meantime would be to install a hard drive (even though a card reader is essential when bringing saved work out to someone else's lab to work with).
