I have 2 questions I can't find in the manual -

1. Is it possible to assign the pads to a midi foot controller such as the behringer fcb-1010?? I would like to be able to change sequences this way??

2. In addition, if you are in the middle of an 8 bar loop for example and want to go to next sequence halfway through --> The way I understand it, it is an immediate change that happens as soon as you press the pad to change. Can you set it up to change at the end of the bar(measure) you ask it to change instead of relying on my ability to hit the pad on time or am I missing something??

Thanks

Yes, you are missing something. This stuff is definitely in one or both of the Akai manuals. As for which one, it depends on the operating system you have.

Question 1: If you are running V1, no. That OS only supports midi notes and velocity at the input for triggering pad samples. However I believe it is possible to perform a similar task with a standard (not midi) footswitch in any OS, but this will only switch to the next available seq. and won't let you "jump around". Use the FOOTSW. selection under MODE>OTHER to configure. If you are using V2, yes, but only if your midi controller can send program change commands. Use MODE > MIDI to configure. NOTE: Both of these methods work independently of NEXT SEQ mode.

Question 2: Highlight SEQUENCE in the main screen and press WINDOW.

Suggestion No.1: Read you manual. No I mean really, read it. Really read it. All the way. Really, it helps. Really!

Thanks for trying, but I think you misunderstood question 2.

OK I re-read that one and I think I sort of get it now. You want to be able to automatically splice sequences on the fly at the start and end points of the measures. I'm not sure if you want the next seq to start at the beginning or pick up on the next measure corresponding to the last seq, but either way I'm pretty sure the answer is no, you can't do that automatically. At least, not yet. However if you could you would find the toggle to do so exactly where I pointed you to in the first response. Maybe it'll turn up there in an update.

Currently, the only way to get the end result you want (short of switching on time) is to copy the measures you want and program them into a new sequence in advance.

"If you are running V1, no. That OS only supports midi notes and velocity at the input for triggering pad samples"

It appears I am running V1.11

I bought an FCB1010 to use as a triggering foot peddle for my mpc500.

In the manual it shows that you can change the program number as well as the MIDI note number of the Pads. For what I see Note Assign Pad6:F 1(41)*

I am confused I suppose. Is there not a way to use the Peddle to trigger the samples?

I simply want to press a control peddle and it trigger a sample.
Is this not possible with this OS?

I've seen this question before but its never really answered.

I think its a cool idea to switch sequences by a footswitch. But I think the MIDI parameters doesn't cover such a feature on the MPC. You can stop and play sequences and sample but no info yet on how to switch sequences. It would be dope too during a live setting instead of dabbling with the jogwheel.

If you cracked it, let us know.

JJOSXL can do all above
http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2xl/next_s3.htm
thats the next sequence behaviour
foot switch can be set up to do nearly anything now, so can play pad, which can be set to pattern to play chord, i have not tried chord mode, probably works as well.
Also foot switch can be set to step forward and backward through sequences

"JJOSXL can do all above"

Thank you for the input.

I have found some lesser machines on the market and some better that can do the task requested.

I have decided for now for my application to use an Alesis DM5 with trigger pads and just attach them to my Drummers kit and educate that MOFO on how to use short measure loops and samples during performance on a drum kit! THAT IS until I get a d%$$ sampler that has a better brain on PC info....Thanks!

Yes, you are very confused. So much so that I'm not sure where to even start. It appears that your extreme state of confusion has also confused your responders here on the MPC 1000 forum who didn't notice you were asking a question about a feature on the MPC 500 and that said feature was completley different than the MPC 1000 feature refered to by the O.P. whom I responded to in this thread you revived from 2006. That BTW is just about a million MPC 1000 (not 500) software development years ago (hint: V1 and V2 refer to original Akai 1000 [not 500] OS versions because the first modern "JJ" that wasn't just a buggy proof of concept demo probably hadn't even been released yet)

To top it off, you seem to be asking for a feature (midi input note to assigned pad sample) that's been available for most if not the entire history of MPCs regardless of which model or OS is used, and both the the quote you took from me about the 1000 and the quote you took from the (we hope) 500 manual confirm this -- yet you are still asking if the feature exists?

Wow, so much confusion.

Dude... Seriously.
