actually it's probably easier than fixing your pads, but i am not gonna say that for sure because i haven't done it yet.
first, let's try to diagnose the problem.
is the slider just plain dead, or is it functioning erratically? ie, does it work when pressure is applied a certain way? if so, it's an issue w/ busted solder. that's probably the case either way.
call nick at vst and ask about slider parts. ask what kind of pieces typically break. describe your problem and ask how much the piece costs.
order that puppy (probably no more than 10 bucks) and solder it in.
this is one of the few times i've heard about dead sliders. i think one other time someone fixed it by cleaning the contacts.
