slider problem...again.

I had posted a thread on this a while back but no one seemed to have any answers...so maybe I'll give it a try again, but does anybody here know how to fix dead sliders? I'm not looking forward to sending it in and would like to know if there's a way to diy, hopefully as easy as fixing dead pads. Anyways thanks a lot!

actually it's probably easier than fixing your pads, but i am not gonna say that for sure because i haven't done it yet.

first, let's try to diagnose the problem.

is the slider just plain dead, or is it functioning erratically? ie, does it work when pressure is applied a certain way? if so, it's an issue w/ busted solder. that's probably the case either way.

call nick at vst and ask about slider parts. ask what kind of pieces typically break. describe your problem and ask how much the piece costs.

order that puppy (probably no more than 10 bucks) and solder it in.

this is one of the few times i've heard about dead sliders. i think one other time someone fixed it by cleaning the contacts.

dope, he is kind of like a wiseman in the moutains you visit to get answers to your problems. anyways, thanks a lot, I will open it up again and give it another try, too bad I'm not too good with messing around with the insides so I could really keep you updated on this, but I will let you know later on anyhow.
