*PLEASE HELP* MPC 1000 freeze problem ('mode' function)

Hey. Just got an MPC 1000 off ebay last week, it's been working fine no problems but today for some reason it keeps freezing when I go in ANY of the 'Mode' options. For example I switch it on, everything is ok I hit 'mode' and it doesn't matter what pad option I hit it just stops dead. Obviously I tried turning it off and leaving it for a few hours but still the bug is there. Any help would be great! Thanks guys.

did you try reinstalling the os? you can get it from the akai website.
