Formats for samples...and #($&2

I have been enjoying my MPC1000, OS 2.1 for quite some time now, and run into a few unfortunate problems which haven't been remedied by replacing it with a new unit, so im wondering if anyone else has had these problems...

Normal .wav files not loading on the MPC. I have had this with a few sample libraries, the mpc will load them really fast from the flash card, and then when brought to the RAM, they wouldn't show up on the sample list...

EDIT: When trying to load the file directly, I get the msg "WRONG FILE!"
of course it's a wav file, that loads up normally on all of my software, 44000Hz

Also, I noticed I cannot load folders with folders inside of them...is this normal with the 1000?

The other problem, quite hilarious yet incredibly aggravating, is that sometimes while composing, the unit will suddenly turn it's output to pure static at full volume. Not very fun while working with headphones!

I have updated the OS, but haven't yet tried out JJ's OS, as I want to fix these problems first.

chances are that the format of the sample you are trying to load is something other than a 16 bit .wav file. thats all the mpc supports. use software to process it to that format. i use goldwave because it does batch processing and it has a long demo mode.

here I was thinking I could use my beautiful strings gigasample and all..

That still doesn't solve the Static.
Oh well, I wrote a song about it, that made me feel better.

Any ideas about folder hierarchy? it would be nice to navigate folders within folders...is that possible? do I need jjs os?
