Cheapest Tracking Solution?

I want to track my beats off the MPC onto my computer, ive been doing the old MPC I/O to the PC input. I want something that plugs in via USB from the midi or however it goes. Also what would be the best software?

this one dosent seem to have midi, do i need midi to track my beats onto the computer using this box?

If you could be a bit clearer about "I want something that plugs in via USB from the MIDI or however it goes" it might be easier to help you out.

It sounds to me like you've been tracking out the only way to do it, and that's by connecting the MPC's audio out to the PC's audio input.

MIDI only comes in to play if you're using it to sync the MPC and PC together, or if you have a sequencer on the MPC that's using the MPC as a sound module.

Remember, MIDI and audio are NOT the same.

As far as software goes, well Audacity is free, the beta version of Reaper is free. As for what's "best", well, that really depends on what you want to do.

all i want to do is, be able to run a beat through some kind of hardware that connects to the computer and splits each track so i can mix down my tracks better on the pc

All midi will do to help will enable yuo to press play in your DAW and it will record and trigger your mpc to start playing automatically, then yourecord one/two (mono/stereo) tracks out at a time from your MPC and they will all be synced. but you will have to do them one at a time unless you get a soundcard with more than one audio line in.

I paid less than $200 for the Lexicon Omega and it comes with Cubase LE software.

wow. that Lexicon Omega is really what i need, thanks for that man im defenitly coppin that soon, the fact that it connects to the USB instead of firewire has me thinkin, has that given you any problems?

could i hear some tracks you did with this piece of equipment?

that m-audio is dope, but i dunno about installing a card like that, i wouldnt be able to transport it to other computers easily like i would with the Lexicon. Seems like alot more work than that Lexicon too...

I am thinking about that MBox Mini as well for tracking from my 1000, any thoughts? I dont think that I would need the Midi...?

i've used the omega for years. i don't use it with the software that came with it (cubase LE). i've used it with Nuendo, Cubase SX, Live. it's a damn good unit and well worth the money.

is the Lexicon Omega compatible with other software than the one it came with??
