how much do the smart media cards cost?
will the sampler be able to reverse a sound?
does the sequencer have a shift timing function?

i need to know the answers of these otherwise i'll re-consider buying it...

nope, reverse and timestretch have been left out b/c it can be done on a computer... like normalize can't?

My sentiments exactly. Each of your questions has already been answered on this board. There is a _search_ function here. And yes, there are instructions for that also.
